Talk:Mechanosynthesis

Main current issues with this page

  • This page is getting too big -- some splitting may be in order
  • The current main illustrative image (thether assisted semi self assembly) on its own is misleading. Add an image of a molecular mill. DONE

A better brief but unmisinterpretable terminology for concept refinement is urgently needed.
"Force applying mechanosynthesis" is quite accurate but also a bit clunky and long.
Maybe "Tip pressure chemistry" and "Tip pressure synthesis"
(Or "Force finger synthesis" to stick with the accidentally suggestive theme increasing chances of terminology adoption.)
When this is split off a lot of links need to be redirected.
Maybe the best strategy is to make this page into a brief disambiguation page (keeping all the links intact) and
move the content over to a new page like "The various forms of mechanosynthesis".

In the end I went with piezochemical mechanosynthesis.

Terminology

The definition of mechanosynthesis seems a bit blurry beside the basic requirement of directed motion by mechanical means sometimes energy transfer by applied force is assumed and sometimes not. It seems the terminology needs refinement here. --Apm (talk)
