This article defines a novel term (that is hopefully sensibly chosen). The term is introduced to make a concept more concrete and understand its interrelationship with other topics related to atomically precise manufacturing. For details go to the page: Neologism.

Squigglesembly is the usage of only a few shape complementary interfaces to
achieve near arbitrarily controllable filling of 2D or 3D space.

Prerequisites for squigglesembly

  • interfaces encode only a few simple turns (like left & right & maybe straight for 2D)
  • assembly proceeds as iterative self-assembly

Benefits of squigglesembly

Squigglesembly may help in overcoming limitaions in
termination control that de-novo proteins face
due tue is teducing the number of mutually orthogonal
shape complementary interfaced needed.

(Choice of name: "squiggly" for the squiggly path that needs to be built up to fully fill a 2D or 3D space with a 1D line in a systematic way)

Delineation form other concepts

Squigglesembly is not to confuse with the squiggly lines of foldamer backbones. – Proteins do self foldingstructural DNA nanotechnology one-pot self-assembly
