There's huge amount of literature on brownian assembly (or more commonly called self assembly)
Wikipedia: self assembly; molecular self assembly
- In technology level 0 and I that is today, brownian assembly is already extensively in use (e.g. structural DNA nanotechnology)
- In technology level I and II: brownian mechanosynthesis could be an intermediate step to advanced APM systems.
- In technology level II and III: self assisted assembly will be very useful.
Beside their actual function completely unguided brownian assembly requires the parts to be one-to-one puzzle shaped. (everything that can stick will stick)
Brownian assembly is a lot slower then forms of directed assembly like mechanosynthesis.
