On chip laser driven particle accelerator – optical metamaterial

Optical particle accelerators may potentially provide the same amount of acceleration as
accelerators using superconductive radio frequency cavities (SRF accelerators)
but in only 1/10000th of the distance!

Needed optical structures are big compared to atomic scale.
Still they are hard to manufacture with today's technology.
Advanced atomically precise manufacturing will surely help here.
