This is an early modelling prototype for a
vdW suck-in spring based resonator by Philip Turner.
This one illustrates vdW suck-in as intended.
The piston is still a bit thin such that
some initial energy in the system makes it wobble a bit.
Note that these "freewheeling" snaps involve very high speeds from several 10s to >100m/s.
Proposed enforced active machine speeds are ~5mm/s, many orders of magnitude smaller.
No visible wobbles at these much slower speeds and much less conversion rate from kinetic energy to heat.
