Before getting too excited: Please be well aware of the negaive effects that public overexcitement can have.

This page is intended for giving an overview of especially exciting but also quite wild far term prospects.
Especially focusing on things that …

  • may change the look and feel of a world on a large scale
  • may change our daily habits massively

Basically this page should make for a good guide for someone who is wanting to make a movie or a series (anime series?)
about a future where advanced gem-gum-tech has already been well established.

Story scenarios

The internet of physical things - thingiweb - thweb

Hydrants for things scattered everywhere:
Imagine phone booth like terminals scattered everywhere. And maybe photocopier formfactor devices indoors.
Or just active garage/hangar/shipyard walls plugged to the "thweb".
Connected to a global microcomponent redistribution system forming a global mechanosphere.
What kind of things would come from these hydrants? All kind of things we can and can't imagine yet.
Let's call it gaily colored gemstone gum 😏. See: Products of gem-gum-tec
One may find some monoliths standing around seemingly randomly
serving the the analogous purpous of an L1,L2,L3 cache in a computer memory.

The end of homelessness for good

No more deaths from being forced to stay outside without shelter.
All of Earth's landmass (and even the seas) becoming tech-aided-habitable. Even the south pole.
These two things for two reasons:

  • (1/2) Climatized survival suits. Gem-gum suits providing as good life support as a home at any place.
  • (2/2) Growing ultra-cheap buildings. Actually there will likely be on demand deployed organically shaped crane-truss-robots involved.

Also a consequence from ultra-cheap buildings is near 100% indoor vertical farming which further means converting of outdoor space back to …

  • wildlife preserves with gentle observation access
  • giant fascinatingly creative parkland that is fully fully automatedly tended to

Note that today only fertile patches of Earth's land are larger scale human habitable, making us nestle around dangerous volcanoes that provide fertile ground and replace precious forests with agricultural land.

No more loud, dusty, stinky, long duration construction sites

Growing streets. Upgraded street infrastructure.
Actually there will likely be on demand deployed organically shaped macro-robotics involved. Easy to have streets with roofs or fully enclosed streets.

No longer energy and water problems

Solar power harvesting can happen out on the vast area of the open ocean leaving so the land need not be plastered.
See: Mobile carbon dioxide collector buoy.
These can also produce gargantuan amounts of fresh water from the water saturated air right atop the water-level.

Nuclear reactors will certainly benefit from gem-gum-tec too despite radiation being the mortal enemy of all types of atomically precise technology. Not just biology.
See: APM and nuclear technology. Nuclear reactors may get smaller and more buried below ground so less of an everyday sight. Except maybe in spaceflight.

No more "Form follows manufacturability"

  • Architecture and infrastructure in organic and artistic shapes and out of occasionally moving active materials.
This is due to the replacement of cheapest industrial materials. Just like with 3D-printing complexity comes for free. So roads can be filled with absolutely anything no matter what. Even "solar freaking roadways", if you get the drift. But you would sill wanna pack them on a streets roof. Or better have an edutainment outdoor park atop and put solar cells on elsewhere.

Less long range travel due to telepresence

Super high fidelity telepresence by data linking gem-gum suits to multi limbed sensory equipped shells.
These gem-gum based "shells" can also be used by AI of course.

Space flight

  • Space tourism becoming affordable for many (everyone?) due to reusable rockets self-repairing and energy becoming way cheaper.
  • Viable lagre scale colonization of the solar system in an even for humans comfortable way and psychologically pleasing.
  • Venus is for good reasons (it's infinite standardized molecule carbon supply and huge loads of solar energy) the perfect match for gem-gum-tech. An interesting scenario seems to be working on Venus surface remote controlledly from extremely robust self repairing balloons in the atmosphere. Or AI will do that.

Truly wild scenarios

Warning! you are moving into more speculative areas.

  • Geoengineering meshes including atmospheric meshes.
  • Humans "landing" on the outer three gas giants onto permanently flying fusion powered platforms. These all have nice ~1g gravity and height-level of 1atm pressure. So a thermal insulation suit with air-supply suffices to go on an outside deck and enjoy the view of Saturns, Uranus, or Neptunes clouds.
  • Telepresence may give a crude preview for what it'll mean to permanently switch to multi limbed sensory equipped shells as ones bodieds (plural intentional) after mind uploading if that sort of thing ever becomes a reality.

Warning! you are moving into more speculative areas.

Far far far off future: A new form of highly diverse artificial life. An artificial life ecosystem rich in ecologic niches densely populating the whole solar system. Gem-gum goo. A jungle. Eat and be eaten again. Malthusian trap again.
But on the long long way there lots of completely unexpectable discoveries may happen leading to completely different outcomes.

At this point we arrived in jelly soft SciFi entertainment of course.
