Optical particle accelerators
From apm
On chip laser driven particle accelerator – optical metamaterial
Optical particle accelerators may potentially provide the same amount of acceleration as
accelerators using superconductive radio frequency cavities (SRF accelerators)
but in only 1/10000th of the distance!
Needed optical structures are big compared to atomic scale.
Still they are hard to manufacture with today's technology.
Advanced atomically precise manufacturing will surely help here.
(wiki-TODO: discuss in the context of future gem-gum technology in more detail)
