Level throughput balancing is an aspect of advanced nanofactory design.

The production and consumption rates of the meeting assembly levels should roughly fit together. Throughput capacity may increase but not decrease.
The production rates depend on:

  • The density of operational spots of the assembly method. Hardcoded mill style (spots are dense) or general purpouse manipulator style (spots are sparse)
  • Operation speed dependent dissipation power and cooling system capacity.

To match the layers together one needs to consider:

  • the step sub-product sizes between the assembly layers (how many small parts will be assembled to many big ones)
  • wether the size of the assembly method lies nearer to the size of the sub-products of the assembly level below or nearer to the sub-products of the assemble level above.
