This article is a stub. It needs to be expanded.

In nature and biology this is called "nitrogen fixation" and beside photosynthesis it is one of the major achievements of evolution (natural selection) of life on Earth.

It will be interesting to see what levels of efficiencies plotted against throughput and machinery volume will be achievable by artificial piezochemical mechanosynthesis (Unnatural chemistry).
