This page is about personal motivations of this wikis author and how they evolved with getting older.
For general motivations for humanity see page: Reasons for APM

Early motivations starting from young age ~6

Obsessively like of …

  • construction kits,
  • cool mechanical mechanisms,
  • oddly satisfying fidget toys,
  • mazes, labyrinths, and the like,
  • applied physics (so far one is taught at young age),
  • and the like.

Many of these still more or less remained as ulterior motives to adulthood.
But there are also early naive (partly unhealthy) obsession with power force and persistence.

Later as that became more clear with increasing life experiences, motivations went a bit towards visions of
using advanced APM technology to long term stably coexist with nature rather than dominating it.
Sustainability, recycling, biodegradability when and where it makes sense.

Incredibly audacious imaginations

Human technology becoming life-like in terms of long term stability (a mind boggling 3.800.000.000 years) …

  • … might be an incredibly audacious notion but is not necessarily implying destructively dominating natures life
  • … is for some reasons still highly questionably even assuming advanced APM (and advanced AI) will be reached.

Later motives, only later with growing age acquired

Fixing technical civilization problems like

  • CO2 climate crisis,
  • water scarcity,
  • extinction of species
  • and whatnot (mostly non-medical focus).

Getting the topic of atomically precise manufacturing more known, better understood and more actively worked on.

Misc

These motives probably are more or less reflected on the APM wiki here. Medical aspects of near and far term APM (albeit important aspects) are as of 2015 barely covered here.
