Digital manufacturing must not be confused with digital control over matter.
The former is about digital control over manufacturing processes like CNC machines or 3D-printers.
The latter is about the products being in some sense digital.
Having very many discrete parts of known type at at-all-times-known positions in an automated way.
The focus here in this wiki is the latter.
