ReChain curved multi part assemblies

ReChain hullsegments specially shaped such that they can assume a number of various angles.

once tensioned the chosen angle is fixed in place.

This could look a bit like such:
– hull segments walls form a positive cylinder segment on one side with trapezoid teeth
– hull segments walls form a negative cylinder segment on one side with trapezoid teeth
The axis of the cylinder being normal to the axes of the hull segments.
Somewhat like an elbow hinge. There is a virtual center of rotation though. And this shall not move unlike a hinge.
A bit like a circle segments of …
– a normal outside toothed gear and
– an exact same size matching inside gear.
(But no need for actual involute profile here.)

The ReChain CoreChain need some sideways leeway to be able to
properly tension the joint for all angles that are possible to pick.

A natural strategy to choose is picking a highly divisible number of teeth
to get a good deal of options for choosable angles.

Size of interdigitating teeth depends on …
– the limits of detail due to manufacturing methos (macroscale) or atomistic nature of matter (nanoscale)
– load resilience constraints
– avoiding undercuts of the self centering teeth that'd make assembly impossible

Alternative approach

One could perhaps alternatively use an approach with hirth joints,
but this requires a redirection of the ReChain core chain tehsion by 90°.
