that the two can be made to interact in a controllable fashion.

  • Grabbing bottom-up self-assembled structures by MEMS tweezers

Side-note: Manipulating self assembled structures with an SPM tip
(possible with another bottom-up self-assembled structure attached)
does not really involve a top down tech part.
