Science vs engineering

In science/research things that fit together must be found and arranged such that they give a complete picture

In engineering/development parts must be designed coordinatedly such that they'll fit together in the final product

Science and engineering must not be confused with one another. Albeit they use the same mathematical language they are very different.

• The more usable theories you have for the same phenomenon the worse
• The more fitting designs you have for the same product the better

Unlike in science in engineering finding a counterexample doesn't necessarily disprove the possibility of a specific goal.

• science is akin to a breadth search -- many aspects of the same thing must be collected before they can be unified int one model
• engineering is akin to a depth search -- many feasible alternative options may be left going on to solving the sub-problems
