A crystal of calcite (a polymorph of calcium carbonate CaCO3) one of a few attractive bio-minerals

Advantages:

  • Calcium is a very common element
  • Calcium is a nature and health friendly element

Disadvantages:

  • rather low hardness
  • low crystal structure symmetry
