Digital manufacturing (1) must not be confused with digital control over matter (2).

  • The former (1) is about digital control over manufacturing processes like CNC machines or 3D-printers.
  • The latter (2) is about the products being in some sense digital.
    Having very many discrete parts of known type at at-all-times-known positions in an automated way.
    Somewhat related to machine phase and tracing trajectories of component in machine phase.

The focus here in this wiki is the latter (2).
