The idea is to use advanced gem based APM technology to clean up out old landfills and past environments sins.
With landfills being somewhere between combustible and incombustible
soil processing and rock digestion chambers would be the techniques to use to reclaim elements
and perhaps more importantly clean up the old mess prevent it from further leaking and seal up the elements (like heavy metals) into a safe form.
Form factor
A special form factor needs to be picked for robots to dig through these old landfills.
Can be a multi robot system. Rather small form factors should be possible. Not nano or micro bots though.
Just macro robots using gem-gum technology.
This most likely won't be swarms of nanobots like in utility fog but rather a swarm of macroscopic robots of various kinds.
E.g. Separating the gathering and the processing macroscopically.
