This does not employ the machinery of cells but happens abiotically entirely.
Advantages:
A wide range of exotic side-chains can be added.
One is not limited to what DNA can encode naturally. Or what cells can be forced to synthesized somehow (see: XNA)
Disadvantages:
- Shorter pepride lengths
- higher price
- limits in randomization ... (too look into)
