Treating program fragments like puzzle pieces where both(!) upstream and downstream typed holes act like the shape of sides of puzzle piece (or the eyes of dominoes) would make programming feel more like playing a puzzle game (where matching spots light up), and would allow to animate program transformations as visually discontinuity-free flow of parts of the program through the program.
