This article is a stub. It needs to be expanded.

For this peculiar application ending convergent assembly as early as possible is desirable.
Super large crystolecule fragments are hard to align to positional atomic precision when vibrations from external sources are present.

Self centering is unfortunately not an option since covalent surface interfaces irreversibly bond on first contact.

Niche usefulness of macroscopic single crystals

  • Absence of absolutely all interfaces provides only minor and questionable advantage in absolute tensile strengths.
Form closure fir tree interfaces can preserve a good deal of the absolute tensile strength of the bulk material and such non-bonding interlocking interfaced provide spots that can reliably stop cracks.
  • Single crystals are obviously non-modular and non-reusable, so from a recycling perspective not very desirable.
