Up: Planetary scale engineering meshes

This is mainly about interacting with the big ice sheets
– on Antarctica,
– in Iceland and
– the in the summer almost already gone ice sea ice sheet cover over the north polar sea.
– plus some major glaciers atop high massive mountain ranges, where glaciers still remain.

Possible motivations

  • Polar research of today and extended. Ice cores, neutrino detectors, weather science, and much more.
  • Helping with preservation of nature, preventing rouge agents causing more damage than reasonably preventable.
    Polar habitats are especially fragile due to their very slow collective metabolism and reproduction cycle. This is similar to deep sea habitats that is also a cold and low energy environment that is long term calm.

  • Entropic energy powerplants. Sea ice freezing desalinates and controlled resalination can provide huge amounts of energy).
  • Increasing surface reflectivity to keep the ice cool and frozen over the summer despite global warming.
  • Slowing glacial sliding motion to decrease ice loss despite global warming.
    Different to lithospheric meshes smooting out tectonic plate shifts.
