(wiki-TODO: Image of the nonlinear curves of two diodes with not exactly the same threshold voltage, and the effect of the distribution of the current for the two diodes in parallel.)
(wiki-TODO: Add much more explanations here. This is just an outline for now.)
The parallel diodes problem
- slight differences in character (manufacturing tolerances)
- nonlinear behavior (ad diodes do)
- parallel loading ⏧
- solution by sufficiently big resistor on each branch
The mechanical analogy
- slight differences in character (manufacturing tolerances)
- nonlinearity (as onsetting repulsion in contacting materials is are far from linear spring behavior)
- parallel loading
- (wiki-TODO: analogy to the electrical solution)
Electrical junction ~ Mechanical differential
Side-note: The rotational mechanical analogy to a simple three way electrical junction (⏧)
is a mechanical differential (conventional or planetary).
A four way junction matches two connected differentials. Five ways three. And so forth.
See: mechanical junction standard machine element (wiki-TODO: Document the existing 3D model on that there.)
