This is is set of elegant natural design principles
that have been found and compiled by the author of this wiki
These principles are meant for recomposable modular mechanical systems.
List of principles
- Self centering – more concrete: Multi V-groove self-centering
- Positive locking – more concrete: ReChain positive locking mechanism
- Form closure
- Design principle of passive pretension – clip connectors applied such that pretension remains
(for strong connections clips orthogonal to load)
Tension principles:
- Tension redirection principle – more concrete: ReChain tension redirection method
- Rebar chain tensioning (tension applied only after loose pre-assembly).
This last one builds on pretty much all the other principles here.
The principle more generally: Post-tenstioning after pre-assembly
Limits to the scale agnosticness
There is a bit of overhead to all these principles when consequently applied.
So they may become increasingly practical the smaller the mechanical parts of the systems become.
Much like standardized electronic building elements (R,C,L) and dicgital circuits
became increasingly practical with progressing miniaturization.
Related here is the topic of: Digital control over reversibly composable units of matter.
Also the principles may only come into full effect of their benefit only once applied applied together.
As so done in: ReChain frame systems
There are other less general limits discussed on the sub-pages.
