For context the meaning of the word "vitamin here":
The term "vitamin" is used in the context of self replicating systems
– for parts that can't be made in the replication process
– for parts that instead need to be fed in from externally.

Vitamins vanishing when reducing the size-scale

When going from macroscale replicative systems to nanoscale replicative systems
then some vitamins just self resolve into nothingness.

And when doing macro-systems as rough analogy to later nanosystems
(i.e. when doing physics change aware scale transposed prototyping)
then these vitamins are perfectly acceptable hacks making prototyping easier by
reducing the amount of unavoidable over-engineering notably due to
the limitations of macroscale physics over nanoscale physics.

Examples

Bearings

Macroscale ball and roller bearings can often be replaced by "nothing",
by just a sliding contact incommensurate non-interdigitating interface.

Nanoscale gear-bearing will still be better than nanoscale slide bearings in terms of heat losses but also bigger and
the critical thing is macroscale wear due to gavitative mass …

  • not adding up load on bearings at the nanoscale,
  • adding up at the macroscale which makes FFF printed slide bearing quickly infeasible wearing themselves destroyed in just a few turns.

Peliminary holding during assembly

Van der Waals force at the nanoscale can replace the macroscale vitamins of
– vaccuum suction using end-effectors
– magnets
