[[ReChain hullsegment]]s specially shaped such that they can assume a number of various angles.<br>
once tensioned the chosen angle is fixed in place. <br>

This could look a bit like such: <br>
– hull segments walls form a positive cylinder segment on one side with trapezoid teeth <br>
– hull segments walls form a negative cylinder segment on one side with trapezoid teeth <br>
The axis of the cylinder being normal to the axes of the hull segments. <br>
Somewhat like an elbow hinge. There is a virtual center of rotation though. And this shall not move unlike a hinge. <br>
A bit like a circle segments of …<br>
– a normal outside toothed gear and <br>
– an exact same size matching inside gear. <br>

The [[ReChain CoreChain]] need some sideways leeway to be able to <br>
properly tension the joint for all angles that are possible to pick.

A natural strategy to choose is picking a highly divisible number of teeth <br>
to get a good deal of options for choosable angles. <br>

Size of interdigitating teeth depends on … <br>
– the limits of detail due to manufacturing methos (macroscale) or atomistic nature of matter (nanoscale) <br>
– load resilience constraints <br>
– avoiding undercuts of the self centering teeth that'd make assembly impossible

== Alternative approach ==

One could perhaps alternatively use an approach with [[hirth joint]]s, <br>
but this requires a redirection of the [[ReChain core chain]] tehsion by 90°.
